Burt Bacharach is known for his quirky melodies and rhythms, and for melding them with the brilliant lyrics of the late Hal David, among other fine lyricists. His music was at the forefront of the sophisticated but playful pop sound of the 1960s, but he has extended his career far beyond those early hits. Six of Portland’s finest present the elements of the Bacharach sound – the horn (Paul Mazzio), the piano (Bo Ayars), and the voices (Barbara Ayars, Julie Hoodenpyl, Dan Murphy, and Dirk Foley) in an evening of familiar and lesser known songs. The Look of Love” will make an appearance, along with “Alfie,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” “Casino Royale,” and other Bacharach favorites.
