Ayars Times Two Vocal Performance Master Class
We are excited to offer this fun and informative workshop to singers in the Portland area. We can help you improve your vocal performance technique and enhance your stage presence through weekly sessions geared toward your individual needs.
We provide bi-monthly showcases for participants, so you can share your progress with family and friends. We hope you will join us for the Ayars Times Two Vocal Performance Master Class.
Each session will consist of a group focus, including, but not limited to:
Deconstruction of and experimentation with interpretation of selected songs
Stage movement
Microphone technique
Phrasing
Song selection and set organization
Embellishment of melody lines
Audience interaction
Shows versus sets
Harmonies
Accompaniments
We work on songs brought in by participants that fit the selected themes for showcases, so if you have a favorite, and/or want to build your repertoire, this is the perfect environment. When we feel your songs and performance are where we want them, Bo will provide you with professional arrangements/charts to keep for your personal use. This adds tremendously in gaining the respect you deserve as a musician.
One of the most impressive things about our master class is the offer of the professional setting of Arrivederci Wine and Jazz Bar for your performances. Working in a professional setting is invaluable to singers, and you will gain that experience – the lights, the microphone, the audience.
Since the size of the workshops is limited, an advance payment of $45.00 for the first session is required to secure your placement in any of our sessions. Classes are held weekly, Sundays at 11:00 am, at Barbara and Bo’s home in Milwaukie, OR.
Spring Master Class - Beginning March 30, 2025!
The theme for this session is “Luck of the Draw-Part II".” Participants will choose 3 numbers from the striped fedora, corresponding to pre-selected random songs. This is the second time around (ooo, add that one to the mix!) for this very popular and very fun themes. The showcase will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025, starting at 7:00 pm.
Starting Here, Starting Now - an afternoon of Musical Intros
Entrances are so important, but many times fill singers with angst at the prospect of an unfamiliar intro. In this informal session, Bo will be challenging you with a plethora of intros, to help you hear and feel when the time is right for you to begin. You provide a list of 5-10 songs with keys, and we will go from there. AX2 will provide wine and sparkling water, and feel free to bring a light appetizer or goody to share. There is no charge for this gathering, but we never turn down a monetary appreciation gesture, if you so choose. This will be held at the Ayars Country Estate from 1-4 pm, March 16th.
The following session was a special one, that began June 16, 2024. We are hoping to add another session of this in 2025! So many people have asked about the how-tos of harmony, and we are answering with this series...
Harmony and Me – Pretty Good Company!
AX2 wants to help you learn to harmonize with your musical friends. Join us for our living room sessions exploring intervals, chords, and musical building blocks “from A to G.”
Sessions are held TBD in 2025, Sundays from Noon to 2 PM – performance at Piano Bar.
